My first job was in “Mana Mana: which is a beach club in Singapore by the East Coast beach. I had worked there for around 2 years. As it was my first job I had nothing to compeer it to, and I was very grateful to have it as a starting point for my work experience. I was a waitress as well as the food runner and I managed to get some basic experience in the bar. My favourite part of the job was being in the bar or working as a food runner, because it gave me the chance to work very fast and move around a lot, as I am not the type of person who enjoys staying in one spot. The beach club also had a separate part where they held events which included water sport activities, land sports and outdoors or indoors parties with music, food and drinks. I would also work under the events, but this was not very often as there was event only on the weekends. Over all I enjoyed my job a lot and that is why I liked to stay with the company for a long period. However eventually I was not able to lear anything new anymore and it was a good point for me to move and find something else to do which would allow me to grow in my learning processes.
Later on when I turned 18 years old I wanted to enter the hospitality industry and study about it. As I did not know much about the industry and I didn't know if it was something which I could do for the rest of my life I decided to get a job in a hotel to get the hospitality service experience and see if it was something I enjoyed. I ended up being highard by “Pan Pacific” located in the central district. I was a front office staff for 3 months for this company and I managed to learn a lot of new things. Firstly I managed to achieve my goal and I decided to continue my studies in the hospitality industry to have better knowledge about it and be able to progress with a better courier path. I was also able to learn that being a front office staff was not my field of work and I would definitely not work in that department. I did not enjoy it because it is very robotic, and there is no connection to the guest except from when they enter and exit in the hotel. I also found it hard to blend with some of the colleges I had as they were not very accepting of my cultural differences and it was hard for me to fit in. That is why I decided to leave the company, however managed to bring with me a great experience. Today or in the future I will know when applying for my further job that I would like to go in to the sales department or food and beverage department rather than rooms devision.

My last experience was in the “Shangri-La” Orchard. This was my favourite work experience till today because I enjoyed it the most. I started working while I was doing my diploma and my advanced diploma. It was very difficult because I would either work for 6 hours before my classes or 6 hours after my classes. I also had a lot of assignments I had to do and studying, however I still chose to work at least 5 times a week because I developed a special relationship with the hotel myself and I fit it with my colleagues and managers around me very well. Firstly I started working in the breakfast “Summit room” at the “Valley Wing” which is the most opulent part of the hotel. During breakfast I cleared and set tables, took orders, was in charge of our patio, was the beverage runner. Later on I worked in the afternoon and here I did cocktail hours, where I served alcoholic beverages as well as high tea and afternoon. I was able to learn about restoring out drinks, picking them up from the loading bay and closing the bar. I am very happy I started to work at the breakfast following by the afternoon till night as I was able to see the process of a whole day in the Valley wing of the Shangri-La, and all the after operation things that have to be done as well. This was my favourite experience so far, and I plan to go back and do my internship there as part of the events team.
